The
video documents a technical field visit to a farm in the province of Taranto,
focused on the hybrid mandarin Valley Gold, a late-season variety developed and
promoted by Citricom. In the orchard, agronomist Vito Vitelli, the owner of the
Capurso farm, nursery professionals, and JP Barnard, Operations Manager of
Citricom IP (PTY) LTD, analyze the production and quality performance of the
orchard at the end of November 2025.

The
fruit observed in the field shows large size, excellent uniformity, and very
high tree productivity, confirming the strong agronomic and commercial
potential of this variety in Ionian growing areas. JP Barnard clearly
emphasizes that these results are strictly linked to the correct application of
Citricom cultivation protocols, without shortcuts or improvisation.
From a
quality perspective, Valley Gold stands out for its high sugar content,
reaching 15–16 °Brix, and for a balanced sugar/acid ratio that clearly
differentiates it from traditional clementines grown in the Ionian area. It is
a late-season variety, with a harvest window from mid-December to mid-February.
The
visit also had a strong educational purpose, with the announcement of a
dedicated field event scheduled for mid-January 2026.
