MANDARIN VALLEY GOLD: THE EXPERIENCE OF MARCO VITELLI, A CITRUS GROWER FROM LUCANIA

Another key topic concerns the decision to invest in protective structures, particularly anti-hail nets and shading systems, considered essential to protect the orchard from increasingly frequent extreme weather events. These investments are justified in relation to the profitability of modern citrus growing, which can sustain significant structural costs only when supported by high-performing varieties and proper agronomic management.

The final part focuses on the characteristics of the Valley Gold mandarin, a late-ripening variety that enters the market during a period of limited supply, representing a strategic commercial opportunity. In addition to its position in the harvest calendar, the fruit’s excellent organoleptic qualities are highlighted, making this variety particularly attractive for growers focused on quality production.
